Awakening the Chimera: Voice, Vision, and the Myths We Carry

During a recent meditation, the song from the video above came through.

That’s not unusual—songs often arrive in these liminal spaces, between breath and thought. They come with melodies, rhythms, sensations... and sometimes, with words. Words that puzzle me. Words that feel like messages from another realm.

This time, part of the lyric that emerged was:

“The sun awakens the chimera.”

I sat with it. I sang it. I wondered about it.

What is the chimera?  

Why is it awakening?  

And what does that have to do with me—or with us?

Meeting the Myth

The chimera, in ancient Greek mythology, is a fantastical hybrid. A lion’s head. A goat’s torso. A snake for a tail. Sometimes wings, sometimes fire. Always a creature of chaos. Destruction. A warning from the gods.

But language is a shapeshifter too.  

In modern usage, the word chimera has taken on another meaning: a dazzling, improbable dream. A visionary illusion. A goal so wild it borders on the impossible.

And that’s when it struck me:  

We are the chimera.

As individuals. As a species.

We contain multitudes—conflicting instincts, ancient fears, divine longing. We are hybrid beings. Capable of harm, yes. But also capable of astonishing beauty, wisdom, and creative force.

We are, at once, the beast and the dreamer.

Voice as a Portal

The work I do through Flaneuse Sound is rooted in this paradox:  

We use the voice—not just to speak or sing, but to awaken.  

To listen.  

To transform.

Voice is vibration, and vibration shapes reality.  

The more we cultivate our voice—our true, authentic, visionary voice—the more we align with something deeper than our current form.  

The more we listen to the subtle, the strange, the mystical, the more we become the ones who can midwife a new story into being.

This is why I created the Transformational Voice Academy—  

To offer a sanctuary, a laboratory, a temple for those who feel the call to express from the soul and listen beyond the veil.
